Versatile Special Education Licensure for Indiana Teachers
We prepare your teachers to educate and inspire children with disabilities.
About 1,200 special education teachers in Indiana are working under a provisional license and need to soon enroll in an approved licensure program to continue teaching. Purdue University offers several online paths to licensure, including the Master’s in Education: Special Education program, which has been pre-approved by the IDOE for adequate academic preparation for a master’s degree and a licensure-only program.
Purdue’s online licensure programs equip teachers with the credentials they need to launch or advance their careers in the classroom. Depending on an individual’s career goals, Purdue’s online program includes initial and additional licensure in mild and intense intervention.

- Master’s degree with licensure: For students who are seeking a master’s degree, Purdue offers tracks with initial licensure or additional licensure with mild and intense focus. Depending on their path, students will have to complete a practicum and/or student teaching field experience for licensure.
